These implants are the most stable and have a reputation of creating a natural feel for the user. Since these implants require the screwing of the implants into the jawbone, a person must have a healthy jawbone.
The subperiosteal implants are no longer used as often. To install them, your oral surgeon will place them on the jawbone within the gum tissue. The metal implant posts will be exposed through the gums to hold the denture in place.
Since these implants do not go deep into the jawbone, they do not have the same level of stability as the endosteal implants. However, these are still more stable than the average pair of dentures.
The final version, the zygomatic, are the most complicated of the three, as they require the oral surgeon to install the implant in the patient’s cheekbone rather than the jawbone.
Unlike the previous procedures, a surgeon will be able to install zygomatic implants within one visit. The procedure is still minimally invasive and secure, meaning there is also a reduction in additional visits without sacrificing on the stability of the implant.
